Tottenham defender Connor Ogilvie is set to be released by the club at the end of the season, according to Football London.

The Reach site claim the 23-year-old, who has been in excellent form on loan at Gillingham, is out of contract at Spurs in the summer and is heading for the exit door.

Football London report Ogilvie is likely to be given the green light to quit his parent club and go on to spend his career in the Football League.

OPINION

It is always a disappointment when academy products leave Spurs, as fans are especially eager for them to succeed in the same way as Harry Kane, Harry Winks and company. But, it is telling that Ogilvie has never made a first-team appearance for the club he joined as a schoolboy. Aged 23, that is not going to change now. Capped by England at Under-17s level, the defender has had successful lower league loans at Stevenage and Gillingham. A left-back by trade, he has been used as a central defender for the second half of the season at the League One outfit, and has been in majestic form of late.  Given the team have been fighting to avoid relegation – they are still only five points above the drop zone – there is no guarantee he will be signed by the Kent-based club permanently. Much will depend on the offers on the table for a player who should attract plenty of interest given the strides he has made this season.
