Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez has received a written offer of a new contract, according to the Chronicle.
The regional newspaper claims on their website that the Magpies are trying to lure the Spaniard into penning a new deal beyond the end of this season by giving him a written offer of a new contract.
Will he sign, or won’t he? Nothing is official yet, but you cannot deny that this is a step in the right direction in regards to his future.
Newcastle need to secure Premier League survival before Benitez is convinced to stay on Tyneside, but it is looking pretty comfortable on that front at the moment after an improvement in form.
With 35 points, the Magpies are more than likely going to stay up, especially with the form that they are in at the moment. However, the fact that the club have already made a written offer of a new contract is a step in the right direction.
The entire Newcastle fanbase will be elated that Benitez is one step closer to securing his future at St James’ Park, although nothing is quite certain yet. Once he officially pledges his future to the club, that is when they can finally move forward in planning for the summer and beyond, and it is when the fans can finally be optimistic about what is in store.
There seems to be updates on the manager’s future on a regular basis, but it seems like this one is a definite sign of progress. A written offer of a new contract shows how intent the board are on keeping Benitez at the club.
Either way, there is not going to be one Newcastle fan who is not ecstatic about this news.
