COMMENTARY
Many Newcastle United fans on social media happily directed midfielder Mohamed Diame towards the exit door after he opened up about his contract situation. The 31-year-old central midfielder shared that if he had to go upon his contract expiring in the summer then it wouldn’t be a “problem”, as quoted by Sky Sports, for him. Diame is three starts away from automatically seeing his contract extended by a year, as reported by Sky Sports, so it’s odd for him to publicly urge the Magpies to make a move, as he shouldn’t be in any real rush to get a new deal. It seems in doing so all that has happen is that several Magpies fans are packing his bags for him. It’s rather harsh of the Magpies fans below to wave goodbye to Diame as he hasn’t been awful this season by any accounts. While the 31-year-old has had some nightmare outings in his 24 appearances this season, there’s been times where he has dominated the midfield battle for Rafa Benitez and been an asset. Diame has a wealth of experience that is very useful to the Magpies and supporters shouldn’t be so quick to wish him gone.
