COMMENTARY
You know things are bad when you have Liverpool fans preferring Margaret Thatcher over you and so Anfield midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has some way to go to rebuilding the faith of the Reds supporters after his performance against Fulham. He was not the worst player on the pitch, or even the worst player in red, but he was definitely lacking any sort of impact for large parts of the game. Lining up alongside Adam Lallana and Fabinho in the centre, you would have expected him to be the creative spark for Jurgen Klopp but instead he seemed tasked with doing the dirty work. Is it his manager that is holding him back? That would be one excuse but the truth is the player himself has to take responsibility for his poor performance. Three points is three points and the Liverpool faithful will be relieved more than anything, but it seems as though Wijnaldum is not doing much to keep his fans happy in the stands. For a man who was a goal scoring midfielder at Newcastle, he has lost his golden touch quite remarkably.
