Rangers will make a summer move to sign loanee Ryan Kent on a permanent transfer from Liverpool, it has been confirmed.

Speaking during a Q&A at the ORSA convention in New Zealand, as cited by the Scottish Sun, Gers managing director Stewart Robertson revealed the club intend to push hard to land the winger on a full-time basis.

Liverpool may demand a “big fee” for Kent, who has four years left on his contract and has been one of Rangers’ outstanding players this season.

Good move for Rangers?

Definitely. Kent is a player with a massive future. He has had the best season of his career after a series of mixed loan spells, showing he can cope with the pressure-cooker environment of Glasgow football. The encouraging thing is the 22-year-old is combining his industry and skill with far greater end product, and his recent performances have demonstrated how he has taken his game to a whole new level. Kent’s 33 matches this campaign have yielded five goals and eight assists, and he has been integral to the side’s recent goal gluts.

Likely to happen?

Clearly, Rangers are eager to negotiate a deal. But it could prove harder to push this through than they might expect, despite the solid relationship between the Glasgow and Merseyside giants since Steven Gerrard’s arrival. Kent’s valuation has climbed this season, and the four years remaining on his contract could mean he ends up being valued at a price Rangers may be unwilling to pay.
