OPINION
It has been a season to forget for Ben Woodburn. Until Wednesday night, that is. The Liverpool attacker endured a wretched spell on loan at Sheffield United in the first half of the campaign that was curtailed in January after he was frozen out of the team. Given that Chris Wilder’s side are second in the Championship and well placed to secure automatic promotion, they can hardly be said to have got that one wrong. Woodburn has had to lick his wounds, accept the failed loan as part of his growing pains and knuckle down back at Liverpool. He may be a long way from the senior side at Anfield, but the 19-year-old provided a reminder of his talent with an added-time winner for Wales in their 1-0 friendly win over Trinidad & Tobago on Wednesday night. It was the forward’s second goal for his country and will give him a much-needed boost during a season from hell. Many international fans were thrilled for a teenager they rate highly.

Thought Woodburn looked a class above everyone else.

Woodburn had a few excellent games for Wales last season and looked a real talent. Sheffield United loan doesn’t seem to have done him any favours but hopefully he can get back on track now.

Pleased for Ben Woodburn to get the winning goal tonight, seems to have been a rough 12 months for him. Hopefully this is a catalyst to better things.

Ben Woodburn has been very unfortunate with his loan spell and injury setback this year. Glimpses of his talent tonight, quite inconsistent throughout however. But he needs match time to develop. Still only 19.. loving the youth coming through atm #WALTTO #TheRedWall ???????

Vaulks excellent – hope he gets a move to a bigger Champ team. Hedges, Roberts and Thomas looked good also. Woodburn desperately needs to get playing. Real talent that’s being wasted atm
