Everton midfielder Andre Gomes was clearly buttering up fans with his latest remarks to help his chances of sealing a permanent move to Goodison Park but he is wasting his breath.

The 25-year-old midfielder on loan from Barcelona for the season shared how happy he was at the Toffees on Wednesday and heaped praise on supporters in the process.

“I am really happy here, I am happy with everyone,” said Gomes in a clip uploaded to the Toffees’ official Twitter account.

“The fans have been amazing with me since day one, my teammates are family for me.

“I’m really happy here, I enjoy playing here and I have to wait until the end of the season and try to enjoy the next games.”

Gomes clearly teased that he’d be open to staying at the club beyond his current loan deal as he implied he was waiting until end of the season to see what happens, but turning on the charm with fans is a waste of time.

While Toffees supporters urging their team can help motivate the club to try and secure the midfielder on a permanent basis, if he really wants a move he must do his talking on the pitch.

The cultured midfielder is capable of being a classy player on the field for Marco Silva’s side and has shown glimpses of his talents in his 25 outings this season.

In fact at times Gomes has been the best player on the pitch as his passing range and creative vision is a sight to behold.

However there’s no denying that as of late his performances have been poor and he is clearly struggling to deliver the goods.

Gomes was sloppy in possession in the 2-0 win over Chelsea and even struggled to knock it out of the park when facing Cardiff City.

Given that the amount of bad performances by the midfielder are starting to mount up maybe instead of wasting his breath by trying to charm fans to help his case, he should just wow on the pitch if he wants to be at Goodison Park next season.
