Everton centre back Yerry Mina’s career at Goodison Park has not quite gone as smoothly as we all expected when he made the move from Barcelona this past summer.

After recovering from injury he started the season off as a regular under Marco Silva, but he has struggled for game time of late with Michael Keane and Kurt Zouma establishing themselves as the manager’s first choice central defensive duo.

And now there has been some even more disconcerting news for the 6ft 4in powerhouse [Source: Transfermarkt]. Spanish outlet Noticias de Gipuzkoa reported on Thursday that the Toffees are interested in signing Real Sociedad centre half Diego Llorente.

That would suggest that the club are so unimpressed with their most recent La Liga centre back import that they’re looking to try and get it right next time.

While that would be immensely harsh on Mina, he’s not been that bad after all, his first team place would be in serious jeopardy if the former Real Madrid man does indeed arrive at Goodison Park.

Everton’s fierce rivals Liverpool are also credited with an interest in the 25-year-old, making it slightly unlikely that Llorente will end up in the blue half of Merseyside, but the fact that the club are even looking at other centre halves should be a big worry for Mina.

The Colombian international’s game time has been reduced severely of late, and now this. There’s no doubt that the 24-year-old will be fearing the end of his Toffees first team role after this report.
