Nabil Fekir. Remember him? He was linked with a move to Liverpool for the majority of last summer, and the rumours will no doubt start doing the rounds again this time around.
Well, Everton fans may be surprised to find out that, after being linked with a switch to the red half of Merseyside, Calcio Mercato have claimed that the blue half have registered their interest in him.
It may be a player that many of the club faithful would expect the Toffees to be interested in, but with a player of his quality, those doubts will soon be forgotten.
There is a reason why Liverpool were linked with him for so long, and why they were adamant that he should have made the move from Lyon after it fell through the first time. The fact that he has scored 12 goals this season and created nine are two things that instantly spring to mind when you consider the positives of signing him.
He is a class above what Everton already have – Gylfi Sigurdsson for example, who cannot seem to decide what form he is in week after week – and there is no doubt that many of the Everton fans would roar if Marcel Brands managed to pull this one off.
The 25-year-old playmaker will definitely be linked with a move away from Lyon once again this summer, but if he joined Everton, they will feel as if they have hit the jackpot.
The Toffees are in desperate need of someone to come and transform their attack, and Fekir is definitely the player to do that. Energetic and direct, he is just what they need to be revitalised in this area.
If there is one thing to be learned here, it is that signing Fekir would change the tide at Goodison Park quite considerably.
