OPINION

Chelsea attacker Gonzalo Higuain had a bit of a mixed bag in the first half against Fulham on Sunday. The Argentine international started the game as the subject of criticism from his club’s fans, with the Blues supporters feeling that he looked slow, sloppy and off the pace. However, he soon reminded them of his quality when he opened the scoring for Maurizio Sarri’s side with a terrific finish past Sergio Rico. He missed a couple of decent chances in the opening period, indeed he could have scored a boatload, but he made the difference when it counted with his goal. There’s no chance that Alvaro Morata – the man Higuain effectively replaced at Stamford Bridge – would have scored a chance of that difficulty. Higuain missed easier chances than the one he scored on Sunday, but the supporters were still pleased with his overall performance in the first half at Craven Cottage.
