Lazio have revived their bid to sign Liverpool attacker Bobby Adekanye on a free transfer at the end of the season after failing to agree terms in January, according to Tutto Mercato Web.

The Lazio edition of the football site claim the Serie A giants have tabled a new contract offer to the representatives of the Dutch youth international, 20, after keeping close tabs on him since last November.

TMW report Adekanye has decided to quit Liverpool on a Bosman summer free after rejecting a new deal offered by the club last month.

Good move for Liverpool?

Definitely not. There has not been the same noise about Adekanye as there has around other Liverpool teenage rising stars such as Rhian Brewster, Ki-Jana Hoever, Ben Woodburn, Bobby Duncan and Curtis Jones. But the Nigeria-born youngster is clearly highly thought of at the club’s Kirkby academy, given a new contract was offered to him last month. His failure to accept it, and the speculation over his future, explains why Adekanye has been frozen out of the Under-23s side after being a regular starter in the first half of the season. No club wants to lose its best young players, especially to an overseas giant who won’t have to pay more than a peppercorn compensation fee.

Likely to happen?

This deal appears highly likely. It was strongly mooted that a pre-contract was agreed in January, although all parties denied that. Nevertheless, Lazio’s strong and sustained interest means the transfer is firmly on the cards, especially as Adekanye feels there are too many top forwards blocking his path at Liverpool. The Italian club want an answer on their offer from the forward by next month, so this deal could be done well before the end of the campaign.
