Alfredo Morelos has confirmed that Rangers have received approaches to sign him and the striker admits that he is not sure what the future holds for him.

The 22-year-old has been red-hot form at Ibrox since joining the Scottish Premiership club in 2017, and although he recently penned a new contract with the Gers, that seems to have done little in trying to fend off interested suitors.

Morelos has now joined up with the Colombia squad with the international break underway, and he has continued to talk about his future at Ibrox with the media in his home nation.

“Things have been done in the best way, there are many teams that have asked for me, but I am focused in Rangers and with this opportunity that I have in the national team, I must take advantage of it, so that in the summer (June) things will be defined, but at the moment, nothing is certain,” Morelos said, as quoted by Colombian news outlet Futbol Red.

OPINION

Morelos should try to keep quiet about his future, especially when he is casting doubt over it by confirming that teams have approached Rangers with enquiries about him. However after a dreadful few weeks for Rangers, their season is effectively over and players like Morelos might as well start looking towards the future now and where he might be playing next term. The former HJK Helsinki striker has been sensational in Scotland. Since joining the Light Blues, he has scored 47 goals in 87 appearances across all competitions and increasing his transfer value by millions. It is very likely that he will move on in the summer, but what sum of money should Rangers settle on? Moussa Dembele left Celtic for just under £20million last summer, and you expect that Morelos would go for that much, if not more. Dembele was very injury prone, whereas Morelos has stayed fit despite the rigours of Scottish football. He does have a bad temperament and his disciplinary record could lower his value, but either way, it won’t be a bad pay day for Rangers if he does move on.
