COMMENTARY
Football works in funny ways but it always seems as though once one side misses a glorious goal scoring opportunity, the other team goes and scores themselves – which is exactly what happened to Manchester United against Arsenal. Romelu Lukaku passed up a clear cut opportunity to put his side ahead at the Emirates Stadium in the early stages and Granit Xhaka punished him with a swerving strike to give the Gunners the lead. While David De Gea came under plenty of criticism for his role in the goal there was no escape for the 6’2″ (Source: Transfermarkt) Belgian giant either, the Old Trafford faithful slaughtering his efforts. It was more than just the missed goal which had them tearing their hair out though. He was sloppy in leading the line, often giving possession away and struggling to have any sort of meaningful impact. He looked a shadow of the player who starred in their Champions League comeback against Paris Saint-Germain and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be wondering what on earth happened to his star man.
