Tottenham chief Daniel Levy texted his manager Mauricio Pochettino after the 1-0 win against Dortmund saw them coast to the Champions League quarter-finals.

Pochettino revealed in the post-match press conference that he receivd a one-word text from Levy that simply said, “Congratulations.”

The two had been spotted deep in conversation while the team trained before the match.

Evening Standard journalist Jack Rosser reported the news from the press conference.

OPINION

Tottenham have had their critics after a poor run of form in the Premier League, that coincided with the return of striker Harry Kane. However, they were magnificent in the Champions League, in a game that many pundits had suggested would represent a significant banana skin in front of the Yellow Wall. In the end it was the White Wall that simply wouldn’t let Dortmund through. Keeping a clean sheet across two legs, like Tottenham did, against a team like Dortmund is one of the most impressive feats Tottenham have achieved in Europe. A 5-0 aggregate victory, with Real Madrid crashing out, has put Spurs on the Champions League radar and there’s every chance they can keep upsetting the odds and go all the way. Man City, Barcelona and PSG are still the favourites, but beyond them it’s wide open. A lot could depend on the quarter-final draw, which takes place on Friday, March 15.
