COMMENTARY
What on earth is going on with Izzy Brown at Leeds United? Struggling to forge any sort of a career in the first team after recovering from his major injury layoff, it seems his under-23 performances – Thursday night’s outing the latest game in a bid to get him up to full match fitness – are leaving plenty to be desired. If the first teamer cannot perform when coming up against reserve quality players, how is he ever going to be given a real chance in the senior side under Marcelo Bielsa? It could be a confidence thing – after all, an injury blow which keeps you ruled out for that long is always going to play in the back of your mind – but that is exactly why he is being given these shots with the under-23s. Failure to perform here is not going to see him clamber up the pecking order and could actually harm his chances of featuring much in the Championship title hunt between now and the end of the season. Something has got to change for the midfield maestro for he is not doing what is needed out on the pitch – be that Elland Road or Guiseley – to turn his loan spell at Elland Road into a success. He might have scored, but that tap in does not make up for the rest of the 120 minutes he played.

How many u23 games is this for Brown now Joe? Just thinking if Bielsa wanted those 8 full games before he uses him more and he hadn't hit that yet #LUFC

Every other player is in sync, working hard. He’s strolling around like he’s a superstar. It’s embarrassing.
