COMMENTARY
Leeds United have relied heavily on their talents of tomorrow to help support the first team this season and judging by the under-23s’ performance against Charlton on Monday evening there is plenty of quality among the youngsters that Marcelo Bielsa can call upon. One man who stood out for all the right reasons was 18-year-old midfielder Jordan Stevens, who opened the scoring with an effort which just beat the Addicks’ attempts to clear it out the goal. It was not just his goal scoring exploits which impressed though. He was commanding in the middle of the park, dictating play with his passing and movement which kept the visitors to Elland Road under constant pressure and his teammates well fed in terms of possession. His versatility was clear as day, demonstrating great vision in attack while carrying out the dirty work when the Whites were out of possession – much like Kalvin Phillips does for the senior side. If the reserve star can replicate the rise of his first team counterpart, Leeds have got another star on their hands.

#LUFC ahead after doing most of the running that first half. Jack Clarke looks his usual self, full of energy and running. Bogusz and Stevens, who combined for the goal also impressing here https://t.co/BmHrbXUFNQ

Did the keeper get a touch on that? Trying to work out if that’s the most audacious lob I’ve ever seen.

Not Leeds' best levels but some nice moments. Quite a few injury breaks and sloppy moments so the game hasn't truly got going. Clarke has stood out a mile. Lovely goal, Edmondson dropping off to Bogusz, good through ball for Stevens, shot too hot for keeper. #lufc #MOT #lufcu23s
