Slavisa Jokanovic is reportedly still in talks with West Brom, despite previous claims that the club’s interest in the ex-Fulham manager has cooled.

According to Sky Sports, West Brom remain in discussions with the 50-year-old as they aim to hire a replacement for Darren Moore, who was sacked last week after the 1-1 draw against rock-bottom Ipswich.

It is understood that Jokanovic and Alex Neil remain top targets for the Baggies, and reports that suggest the Serbian boss is too expensive for Albion have been rubbished by Sky.

Sun journalist Mike McGrath claimed via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday that Albion’s interest in Jokanovic had “cooled”, but that no longer seems to be the case.

That is something that West Brom’s entire fanbase can be thrilled about because settling for James Shan for the rest of the season would have been a terrible decision.

Although Shan led Albion to a 3-0 win against Swansea on Wednesday night to earn a first home league win since Boxing Day, it would make the decision to sack Moore to be a complete sham if a replacement wasn’t hired.

Jokanovic is a no-brainer of a replacement as well.

The 50-year-old has won promotion with both Watford and Fulham, doing so with the Cottagers last season when they won the play-off final against Aston Villa after a stunning run of form that catapulted them up the table.

West Brom could do with a similar run of their own if they want to revive any hopes of an automatic promotion spot, but at the moment, it seems like the Black Country club is destined for a place in the play-offs.

Jokanovic is the right man for the job, and as Sky’s update says, he is a top target, he is not too expensive and talks are still underway.

This is a very, very positive update for West Brom’s supporters.
