Everton have reignited their interest in signing Espanyol centre-forward Borja Iglesias and are willing to quadruple his wages, according to El Desmarque.

The Spanish news outlet reports on their website that the Toffees are to try and convince the 26-year-old to make the move to Goodison Park by multiplying his current wages by four.

The report adds that the forward has a release clause of £24.2million, and that fellow La Liga rivals Valencia are also monitoring his situation closely.

Galicia Press reported in January that Everton had made a £24.5 million bid for the 14 goal frontman in January, but he chose to remain in Spain.

Good move for Everton?

Yes, this would absolutely be a great move for Everton. They are in desperate need of a striker who scores goals on a regular basis, and it seems like Iglesias fits the bill perfectly. He would be a fantastic addition to the team, and it would take the burden of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison to score all of the goals. There is the potential that he can improve even further by playing in the Premier League, so there is no reason why Everton should not pounce on that.

Likely to happen?

Iglesias chose to stay at Espanyol the last time the Toffees made an offer for him, so it remains to be seen whether he would be willing to make the switch in this transfer window. Either way, Everton are more than capable of matching his release clause, so they do not have that obstacle. They will just have to convince Iglesias that Everton is the club for him in the long-term. The fact that they are willing to quadruple his wages may just do the trick.
