COMMENTARY
It is fair to say that there were a multitude of emotions circling St James’ Park after Everton’s defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday, not many of them positive from the Toffees’ perspective. One man who let his anger show was manager Marco Silva, somewhat understandably after his side conceded a two goal lead, as the boss tore into referee Lee Mason at full time. Unfortunately for Silva, it appears as though his actions could well land him in hot water, with Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers reporting on his personal Twitter account that Silva’s behaviour could result in an FA charge once the officials have examined the referee’s match report. It seems as though defeat was the final straw for many of the Goodison Park faithful too, with many calling for Silva’s head on Twitter. His job has appeared under pressure for some time and while the FA cannot sack him on their behalf, he does look to face a battle to keep his position in the dugout between now and the end of the season. The heat is building on Merseyside and the fans are making their position as clear as possible.
The FA are reviewing the referees report before deciding whether to take any action against Marco Silva. The Everton manager confronted Referee Lee Mason after the final whistle in Saturdays game at Newcastle United
