Dean Saunders has predicted that Manchester United should beat Wolves in their FA Cup quarter-final meeting at Molineux on Saturday night.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have caused major issues for the top-six in the Premier League this season, but it remains to be seen how they will fare against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s high-flyers in the FA Cup.

And ex-Wanderers boss Saunders has been gushing over his old club ahead of this fixture, but expects Man United to progress to the semi-finals at Wembley if they play well.

“Hard to call this one. Wolves are a really good, well-oiled machine. They’ve come up from the league below and they’ve carried it on. They’ve got some really good talented players,” Saunders said on Saturday Morning Savage on BT Sport 2 [11:32am].

“Man United are on a roll. If both teams play well, Man United should win. But on the day, we’ll have to wait and see.”

OPINION

It is hard to argue with Saunders here. He understands that Wolves have done well against the top-six in the league this season, which is why the West Midlands club could pick up the win if Man United aren’t on top of their game. However United are bound to take this seriously, especially after they were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal last week. Solskjaer knows that he can practically guarantee himself the permanent job at Old Trafford if he wins silverware and secures a top-four finish. His side are playing well in the league and could do with lifting a cup just to make his claim for the job even stronger. With Man United drawing Barcelona in the Champions League, their only realistic cup win is the FA Cup, which is why they will go for it against Wolves on Saturday. It’s really difficult to see Nuno’s men winning this, despite their record, but they could be good enough to earn a replay at Old Trafford.
