Rangers midfielder Steven Davis has not enjoyed the best of times since arriving at Ibrox in January, has he?

The veteran player has been woeful in the displays he has had for Steven Gerrard’s side so far this season, and he has failed to start numerous times due to the impressive form of Ryan Jack. However, it looks like things could be improving for him.

He played for Northern Ireland in their 2-0 win over Estonia on Thursday night, and he could not have had a better game this season if he tried. The loanee was effortless with his passing, completely bossed the midfield, and showed his composure to slot home a penalty and wrap up the win for his country.

A big turnaround from his other performances this term, right? We have now witnessed the Davis that the Rangers fans know and love, and it now makes sense why Gerrard put the effort him to bring him to the club for his second spell.

He looked completely transformed on Thursday. The 34-year-old was one of the best players on the pitch for his country, and it is fair to say that he has turned a few heads with this display.

Gerrard will be rather relieved with this performance, to say the least. He has been waiting for Davis to unleash his true potential for Rangers, and it looks like that could finally happen when he returns from the international break.

Many Rangers fans will jump for joy after seeing Davis’ transformation. If he can translate this good form for his country for his club, then he could be on his way to extending his stay at Ibrox. That would be fantastic for him, as he is unlikely to get much game time for Southampton if he returns.

Fingers crossed.
