Jack Colback has “fallen out” with Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez and he could leave the club in the summer, according to Newcastle Chronicle journalist Chris Waugh.

The reporter claimed via the Chronicle website [12:11pm] that although Colback, 29, still has another year left on his £40,000-a-week [Chronicle] deal, he is likely to leave St James’ Park for good in the summer, regardless of whether Benitez is in charge or not.

Colback is currently on loan with Nottingham Forest in the Championship and he has recently expressed his desire to join them on a permanent basis.

OPINION

Colback has to go down as one of the worst signings that Newcastle have made in the last few years. It caused controversy when the Magpies signed him from bitter rivals Sunderland in 2014, and it has become even more of a joke when you see how much money he is taking home each week. Luckily for him – and for Newcastle – he has done well at Nottingham Forest, so there is a good chance that the East Midlands club will look to sign him for good in the summer. They should be able to afford him and it’s not like Benitez will stand in the way if an acceptable offer comes in, especially as it has been revealed that he has had a fall-out with the Spanish manager. It is just best for all parties if the move goes ahead in the summer, so fans of both clubs should certainly expect Colback to be a permanent Forest player by the time next season starts.
