OPINION
Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley produced a hugely encouraging performance in his team’s 2-0 defeat to Everton on Sunday. The England international was booed mercilessly by the Toffees faithful as he returned to Goodison Park, but he responded in the best way possible. It was a poor team performance from Maurizio Sarri’s side after half time, but before the break they were completely dominant, led by a terrific performance from the 25-year-old Barkley. He was always looking to make things happen in an energetic display and was pretty unlucky to be brought off in the second half. There weren’t too many Blues player who performed to their capabilities against Everton, but Barkley was certainly one of them. As one supporters said, he was their only silver lining from what was a dreadful day at the office for Sarri’s team. If he can keep this kind of form up it will be excellent news for Chelsea moving forward.

Decent First Half – CFC unlucky not to be ahead
Need better movement from Higuain and Alonso, otherwise good performance without goal
Pedro, Hazard, Barkley impressed me

Really could be 2-0 ahead, Barkley has been good considering the boos, Jorginho been really good, I would bring RLC on and CHO on for Pedro or this could really end 0-0 again just like at home… let’s put the ball in lads! We can win! #EVECHE #CFC https://t.co/DBhRDMk5b0

Jorginho my player of the half. He was brilliant at winning the ball back and played a world class pass to Higuain who should’ve scored. Barkley is also having a good game #CFC #Chelsea
