Cardiff manager Neil Warnock has claimed that Norwich and Sheffield United will hold onto the top-two spots in the Championship, and thinks Leeds will miss out on automatic promotion.

Talking on the Alan Brazil Show (talkSPORT, Thursday, 8am) Warnock was asked about the race for the top-two spots and said that Norwich would get promoted.

Warnock then added that he was hugely impressed with what Chris Wilder had done at Sheffield United.

“Chris has built a side, we thought they were one of the best teams we played. I think they’ll be very difficult to shift,” Warnock said.

“So you think Leeds will miss out on the top two?” Brazil asked him.

“I think they will,” Warnock replied.

OPINION

Missing out on the automatic promotion spots would be a huge blow for Leeds, who’ve spent a large portion of the season on top of the Championship. There are still eight games to go and you can see all three teams dropping points, but you’d have to say that Norwich are overwhelming favourites to win the title. They’re five points ahead of Leeds in third, who are a point behind Sheffield United. That means it’s one from two and Warnock thinks Wilder’s side have the edge. After beating Leeds they would certainly be the bookies’ favourites but you can’t rule Leeds out. They were the better side in the game against Sheffield United and they’re more than capable of going on a run of games that could blast Sheffield United back into the play-off spots. It’s been said before this season, but it’s true now – every game for Leeds is a cup final now.
