Stan Collymore has posted a brilliant Twitter message trolling Paul Mitchell, the Birmingham fan who today pleaded guilty to assaulting Jack Grealish.

Mitchell ran onto the pitch in the Birmingham v Aston Villa game and hit Grealish on the back of the head before being arrested.

Grealish got the last laugh in the game, scoring the only goal to give his side a 1-0 win in the derby.

Collymore sent a message on twitter of Mitchell in a police van with the words, “They won pal, 1-0, Grealish”.

OPINION

Mitchell will be regretting his actions today, after pleading guilty in court to both pitch invasion and common assault. Sentencing takes place later this afternoon and there’s every chance he could be made an example of and given a custodial sentence. The maximum for common assault is six months but his defence lawyer is pushing for a suspended sentence. Footballers need to be able to play without worrying that a fan is going to run onto the pitch and attack them. What if Mitchell had a knife on him? We think that a big example needs to be made and Mitchell should be left to ponder the consequences of his actions. He’s a mindless thug who can’t be trusted to act in a civilised manner. Passions might run high at derby games but this is just a game at the end of the day. He needs to face up to his actions and we hope that he gets the strongest possible sentence today.
