Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah has been a mainstay in the team this season, racking up 29 appearances in total. That is no surprise, given that he has been mainly consistent so far.

Well, that came to an end in the 1-0 win over Birmingham on Sunday. The overall result may have been overshadowed by one incident, but that does not stem away from the fact that Adomah was anonymous all afternoon.

The three points was no doubt crucial for Villa in their hunt for a Championship play-off place, and the same goes for Wednesday’s clash against Nottingham Forest.

Another win is needed, but seeing as Adomah showed signs of not being able to get going on Sunday, there is no way he can be involved this time around.

Villa boss Dean Smith must ruthlessly axe the 31-year-old for this match, as his display simply is not good enough from a player who starts on a regular basis.

The flyer was seriously below standard, and at times, you could hardly tell he was on the pitch due to his lack of involvement.

Where has Adomah gone? In the last few matches, the winger has been fairly decent, and was not afraid to create chances and get stuck in. On Sunday, that could not have been any more different.

This made it no surprise that he was taken off in the 63rd minute for Andre Green, who almost scored as soon as he set foot on the field. To be honest, he did more when he came on than Adomah did for an hour.

It is paramount that Adomah is therefore dropped before he hampers Villa’s chances of progressing even more – and many fans will have their fingers crossed that this is not the start of a decline for the player.

He needs to be axed as soon as possible though, so over to you Smith.
