West Bromwich Albion are no closer to appointing a new manager, according to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett.

The Sky reporter shared via his personal Twitter account that he understood the West Brom board were considering the option of an interim boss or hiring an experienced coach to work with Jimmy Shan until the end of the season.

Dorsett noted that the board wanted to make the right long-term appointment but the demands for the Championship and Premier League are very different.

The journalist also noted that former Fulhan boss Slavisa Jokanovic and current Preston North End manager Alex Neil were still contenders for the job.

“#wbafc no closer to appointing new manager, I understand,” tweeted Dorsett.

“Considering option of interim boss, or an experienced coach to work with Shan til end of season. Board want right long-term appointment, but v different demands in Champs or Prem. Jokanovic and Neil still being considered.”

OPINION

West Brom firing Darren Moore becomes a worst decision with each update. When the Baggies acted quickly to part company with the manager, you felt it was done as they had a successor all lined up. However this update by Dorsett shows that West Brom acted very quickly without having a plan in place. While the Baggies have won their two games since Moore’s departure, it doesn’t mean the decision to let him go was the correct one. West Brom have several important games coming up after the international break and they need a manager to guide the squad. While Shan has done well, surely it’s a huge ask of him, even if given an experienced coach to work with, to have him potentially guide West Brom into the play-offs. This update does nothing but fuel the fears of West Brom fans and given that Dorsett is a reliable source of information, Baggies supporters are no doubt ready to slam the board.
