Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that Leeds United will beat Sheffield United 2-1 at Elland Road on Saturday.

Second-placed Leeds are on a high after smashing Reading 3-0 on Tuesday and they can edge one step closer to securing automatic promotion to the Premier League if this result goes their way this weekend.

The Sky Sports pundit has predicted his former club to bag all three points on home turf, suggesting that the Whites’ confidence will be increased after their result in mid week.

“This is a huge game in the battle for promotion. It is the last time any of the top three will meet each other this season so it’s also the last time for any of them to directly impact upon each other’s results,” he said in his predictions for Sky Sports.

“Both of these sides got big wins in midweek and confidence will be high in each camp. The reverse fixture earlier in the season was decided by a mistake and I expect this to be another tight game. I just think Leeds will have enough at home.”

OPINION
It is not a surprise in slightest that Prutton has predicted a win for Leeds here, as they are definitely the team to beat at the moment. Sheffield United are also contenders for promotion, so a win for the Whites would boost their chances of automatic promotion even more. Like Prutton pointed out, this is the last time that the top three will meet this season, so Leeds really have to make it count this time. Promotion is within grasp now, and they now may be boosted by Jack Clarke edging closer to a return after turning out for the under-23 side. Either way, Leeds confidence will be very high going into this match, as they were no doubt the much better side on Tuesday. Sheffield United will obviously pose a much bigger threat than Reading did in mid week, but Leeds must now show that they have the credentials to brush them aside in their promotion quest.
