OPINION
Celtic’s official Twitter account tweeted a happy birthday message to Charlie Mulgrew on Wednesday and understandably, a section of the club’s fans have been urging the Bhoys to re-sign the centre-back from Blackburn. Mulgrew, 33, has been terrific during his time at Ewood Park, becoming more known for his goalscoring exploits than his defensive solidity. Last season he helped Rovers win promotion to the Championship by scoring 14 goals in League One, while this term he has netted 10 goals in 26 Championship outings. Mulgrew was a bit of a fan favourite during his time at Celtic Park, but that time is over now and the Bhoys should really be trying to sign better players than him. Mulgrew is 33-years-old and way past his prime unfortunately, so whoever is in charge of the Hoops in the summer should look at younger talent who can replace the likes of Dedryck Boyata and Filip Benkovic.
