Although Celtic are on the verge of winning a third domestic treble in a row, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding Glasgow’s east end at the moment with the club yet to decide on who will be their next permanent manager.

Brendan Rodgers quit Celtic Park in February to take charge at Leicester, leaving the Scottish Premiership leaders to appoint Neil Lennon as their interim manager for the rest of the season.

Lennon has kept the Hoops on course for a third treble in a row, but a section of the club’s fans have made it clear that they would like Marco Rose to be hired as Rodgers’ permanent successor at the end of the campaign.

The Red Bull Salzburg manager has an impressive CV.

He defied the odds to lead the Austrian giants to the Europa League semi-finals last season, while also winning the Austrian Bundesliga by 13 points.

The 42-year-old has since worked wonders with Salzburg in Europe again this season, beating the likes of Rosenborg, RB Leipzig and Celtic in a Europa League group stages they completed with a 100 per cent record.

Rose’s side has been one of the most impressive to rock up at Paradise this season, and with his European record looking far better than Rodgers’, it is no shock to see many fans clamouring to have him hired.

The Daily Record has reported that Rose is now one of the favourites to be the next permanent Celtic manager, and speaking to Sky Sports Austria, as quoted by the Daily Record, the German has cast doubt over his future with Red Bull Salzburg amid the speculation.

“I think it’s not so often in your career, that you have a lot of requests and then you have a lot of options,” Rose said.

“I know what I owe the club, and yet at some point it’s about my personal situation, about goals, about new challenges, and about making a decision.”

Celtic’s entire fanbase should be getting goosebumps over Rose’s comments.

He is without doubt the best man for them to hire when the season ends and for him to admit that he has a decision to make on his future, that has to be treated as a boost for the Bhoys.

Rodgers’ main downfall at Celtic was his lack of success in Europe and the biggest grievance about Lennon is his unpopular style of football.

Rose is an improvement on both of them in those regards, plus Red Bull Salzburg dominate the Austrian Bundesliga like the Hoops dominate the Scottish Premiership – so what’s not to love?

Celtic can get their next hire very wrong if they’re not careful, but not if they hire Rose.

He is the best man for the job.
