Rangers star Daniel Candeias has revealed that Alfredo Morelos is not as angry as he seems and that he is part of a troublesome pair at Ibrox.

The Colombian hitman has come under heavy fire for his disciplinary record in Scotland this season, picking up a handful of red cards and suspensions, leading to calls for him to calm down his temper.

However Candeias insists that his attacking teammate is not like that off the pitch and revealed that when alongside fellow striker Kyle Lafferty, you know you are in trouble thanks to their jokes and pranks.

He told the Daily Express: “He jokes all the time with the other players. He does everything. When you are with Kyle Lafferty and Alfredo it’s a big problem!

“When Alfredo doesn’t score goals, he stays sad, he stays angry. But he has the right mentality. This season he has had too many red cards, but I think that will help Alfredo for future years.”

Opinion

Footballers are often very different to how they come across on the pitch in comparison to their personal lives and it seems as though Morelos has a cheeky side Rangers fans are not seeing at Ibrox. If he came across as having a more jovial personality when playing, rather than the sulking, brooding forward we have become accustomed to, then maybe referees would give him a little more lenience and the opposition would be less inclined to wind him up. It is good to hear that his antics are not getting the dressing room down and instead has formed a clowning duo with one of the more experienced heads in the Ibrox squad. Keeping a positive energy despite results is so important and it sounds as though, while their jokes might be “a problem” for the players, the strikers’ partnership off the pitch is helping as much as it is on it.
