Bogusz must get Leeds shot

Leeds need to find a solution to a problem that’s been nagging at them all season and came home to roost against Sheffield United.

Despite dominating games, Marcelo Bielsa’s side isn’t creating enough chances and they’re certainly not scoring them.

Against Sheffield United they didn’t have a shot on target and since Samu Saiz left there’s been a real problem around the number 10 position.

Getting Jack Clarke back is a boost, and with him on one flank and Jack Harrison on the other, Pablo Hernndez can slot into the attacking midfield position. He’s been Leeds’ best attacking player this season.

But there’s another player who should get a shot. Mateusz Bogusz has been turning heads in the Under-23s since his move from Poland in January.

Highly talked about when he arrived, Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay said he could see him “lighting the whole place up” in the number 10 role alongside Hernandez.

He seems to have settled in England remarkably quickly, impressing on his debut for the Under-23s and in every game since.

We don’t expect Bielsa to make him a first-team starter. But he could just be the impact player off the bench that Leeds need in the promotion run-in.

Izzy Brown has flopped since his return from injury and we wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see him on the pitch again. And we’d prefer to see Bogusz given a chance to show what he can do after what we’ve seen of him in the Under-23s.
