Bellew: I’d love Everton to sign Lukaku again

|

Everton supporting boxing superstar Tony Bellew has said that he would love nothing more than to see Romelu Lukaku return to Goodison Park from Manchester United.

The Toffees sold the Belgian powerhouse to the Red Devils after he made 166 appearances on Merseyside, scoring an impressive 87 goals during his time at the club.

With Bellew’s beloved side lacking a prove goal scoring talent up top, Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling to make the desired impact, the boxer insisted that he would love to see the 79-cap ace back at the club, although insisted he would love to see Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero wearing a deeper shade of blue.

He told Sky Sports’ Soccer AM (02/03): “I’d love anything more than Romelu (Lukaku) to come back. Romelu, if I had my dreams come true, Sergio Aguero – I think he’s the best out-and-out goalscorer in the world.

“I just want the best players for their positions, (Raphael) Varane in the Spanish league, he’s very good.”

Opinion

Lukaku was an absolute monster in front of goal for Everton but has struggled to translate his immense form with Manchester United. Perhaps it is the pressure of leading the line of one of the world’s biggest clubs, or perhaps he was just more suited to the way Everton played to his strengths, but his stock has taken a bit of a dip since the move. All Toffees fans would love to make him make the short journey across the north west of England again, especially with their struggles up front at the moment. The Belgian would bring a presence that is lacking in the shape of Tosun and Calvert-Lewin and a new striker has to be on Marco Silva’s shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window. It will not be Lukaku making the move back, that is off the cards, but someone in the same mould would not go amiss.
