Bayern Munich have not made contact with Everton regarding a move for their striker Henry Onyekuru, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The regional newspaper reports on their website that there has been no contact between the Toffees and the Bundesliga giants over a possible switch after a report from Fanatik emerged that the club’s sporting director had asked about the 21-year-old’s availability.

The report states that the future of the forward – who is currently on loan at Turkish outfit Galatasaray – is uncertain, but Everton remain optimistic that they can secure a work permit for him.

OPINION

The fact that a report had emerged that Bayern Munich had registered their interest seemed a bit hard to believe at the time. Onyekuru may have been in good form for Galatasaray, but it seemed unlikely that a prestigous club like the German giants would be interested in him. Marcel Brands told them that Everton wanted £35 million for his services, which seemed a bit steep for someone who has never appeared for them. That being said, it is not surprising to see that this report has quashed Munich’s interest in the youngster. He is not at the standard required to play for a club like them, and there is no doubt that he would have been loaned out by them anyway. However, a move to Germany is not on the cards for Onyekuru this summer. It remains to be seen where he will end up, especially with Everton working hard to secure a work permit for him.
