COMMENTARY
After struggling to make a name for himself at Aston Villa it should come as no surprise to anyone that Jordan Lyden has left the club, as revealed on his personal Instagram account. His 14 years have not amounted to much at all, with just eight senior appearances for the Villans, and at the age of 23-years-old it definitely seems like it is time for him to forge a future elsewhere. It has not been smooth sailing for the Australian talent, with injuries plaguing the fledgling stages of his career, and the sooner he gets over his problems and back onto the football pitch, the better. It is fair to say that the reactions from the Villa Park faithful are mixed, with some disappointed he has not managed to make it while others are happy to see him off the books. One thing that everyone seems to agree on is how much injuries have affected his time at the club and hopefully for his sake they do not continue to trouble him too much for the rest of his playing time, wherever that might be.

Good decision for both parties. He wasn't good enough to get in this team but has been very unlucky with injuries so a fresh start elsewhere will hopefully kick start his career. Good luck to the lad.

I see your point, but at the same time we’ve let very good footballers go for nothing. I wouldn’t trust our judgment as much as I’m sure there are players that don’t do themselves justice

Perhaps. Or have we let really promising #avfc players (Albrighton, Hogg etc) go too soon, who have gone on to prove themselves. If Lyden stays injury free we may see him flourish elsewhere. Always a difficult decision.

Sometimes these things just aren't meant to be. I've no doubt he'll move on and become a success elsewhere but there's no chance of him breaking into the Villa squad any time soon.
