OPINION
Shkodran Mustafi has had quite a poor season for Arsenal, and it is not going to get better any time soon if Unai Emery is playing him at right-back. Injuries have forced Emery into playing the 26-year-old outside of his natural position, but it certainly makes fans jump on his back a lot quicker than they have been doing already. Mustafi hasn’t been great, but he has been the go-to scapegoat a lot of times this season. Many Arsenal fans tore the German to shreds for his first-half display against Rennes on Thursday night, even though he wasn’t that bad. Emery might have to take him off at half-time after he appeared to pick up an injury, so at least some fans will get their wish of not having to see the ex-Valencia man play for them in the Europa League showdown. Who goes on to replace him though if he is injured? It’s not like Emery has any options after Sokratis Papastathopoulos was sent off.
