OPINION
Hal Robson-Kanu has been on the receiving end of plenty of criticism from West Brom fans of late, but they were raving about the forward following his crucial contribution in Saturday’s 2-0 Championship win at Aston Villa. The 29-year-old put his side ahead after 41 minutes when he headed in a right-flank cross from the busy Mason Holgate. It was the striker’s fourth league goal of the season and fifth in all competitions, and showed Darren Moore’s side still have cutting edge even without the suspended Dwight Gayle and the departure in January of winger Ashley Barnes. With Jay Rodriguez adding a second soon afterwards, West Brom fans were so thrilled they spent the entire half-time singing the Robson-Kanu song. He was replaced at half-time by Sam Field as Darren Moore bolstered his midfield, but could reflect with pride on a performance that keeps the Baggies firmly in the promotion running. Fans were certainly delighted with the efforts of a player one hailed as the “Welsh Ronaldo” and others claimed had proved them wrong.

Gets so much flak & critism, unfairly much of the time. Could score a hat-trick and still wouldn't shut the boo boys up.
