COMMENTARY

Nottingham Forest attacker Daryl Murphy clearly was a fan favourite after his first-half display against Preston North End on Saturday. Forest may have been drawing 0-0 with Preston at the break, which isn’t awful as there’s another half to play, but it seems supporters of Martin O’Neill’s side weren’t in the mood to go easy on players. One Forest fan questioned Murphy’s ability to be a target man while another claimed that he was on his last legs and didn’t understand why O’Neill was playing him. Hopefully Murphy ups his game in the second half or is withdrawn as it will be the only way to cheers fans up. While several Forest fans ripped Murphy to shreds, he didn’t shows signs of being a positive influence when he linked up with Lewis Grabban in a good attacking move, but the offside flag denied it making the difference. Murphy isn’t having the best campaign by any means and fans will continue to get on his back unless that changes.
