Wolves are set to call on super agent Jorge Mendes to help them broker a deal for Benfica sensation Joao Felix, according to TEAMtalk.

The 19-year-old is in demand after a season that’s seen him score nine goals and add six assists in the Portuguese top-flight.

Man United and Liverpool are both reportedly interested, with Jurgen Klopp’s side having already had a £61million bid rejected.

Now, according to TEAMtalk sources, Wolves think they’ve got a great chance of landing the youngster for a figure “significantly below” his £105million release clause.

They might do that by inserting a huge sell-on clause in Felix’s deal.

OPINION

Wolves already have Raul Jimenez on loan from Benfica and they want to push their Portuguese connection as they push for a top-six spot in the Premier League after their successful re-introduction to the top-flight this season. Wolves have been the season’s surprise package, impressing everyone with their attacking style and results against some of the Premier League big boys. Felix is set to be a future star but you have to look at the figures that are being bandied about and wonder what’s happened to the game. Felix has only played a half-season in the top-flight with Benfica after impressing with Benfica B and yet he’s got a nine-figure price tag on his head. That’s ridiculous and Wolves are looking to get round that by inserting a sell-on clause that could net Benfica another small fortune if they sell the player in the future. The Wolves link with Mendes could help them steal the player from under the noses of the Premier League giants. Wolves want him to broker the deal and that could see him concoct a situation that suits both clubs, and leave Wolves with one of the hottest young talents in the game.
