One of the big talking points over the winter transfer window was whether Marko Arnautovic would remain at West Ham and while he eventually did stay in east London, it looks like a reprieve for the Irons rather than a long-term decision.

With the Austrian talisman seeming set for the exit door in east London there needs to be someone filling that great big void and with none of the current options likely to step up to the required level, it looks as though some outside recruitment needs to be carried out.

Finding the right option is tough but it would be beneficial to have someone with experience of the Premier League under their belt, and finding a player who might be keen on moving would help their cause no end.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has hinted at unrest at top flight rivals Leicester City, specifically with star striker Jamie Vardy, and he would be a big name who would get the London Stadium faithful bouncing.

He told Sky Sports’ coverage of Tottenham v Leicester (10/02, 13:28): “(Is it an unhappy marriage?) Yes, I think it’s been going on for a while. It’s not the first time Jamie Vardy’s been left out.

“He’s their best player, he’s the big name at Leicester, his record in these type of games is phenomenal and to leave him out in this game is a big call. I think there is a big problem between the Leicester manager and the senior players.”

Pacey, aggressive and a constant threat up front, the English hitman might be heading into the final years of his career but he has shown no signs of slowing down and he would bring that spiky edge that Arnautovic does.

He is a different sort of player but one who can do more than just get the job done – he could become a future Irons hero.
