There aren’t many Huddersfield Town players who will beĀ poached when the Terriers inevitably get relegated this season, but one man who will be on several teams’ radars is Aaron Mooy.

The Australia international has proven himself as a top Premier League operator and is someone who deserves to be playing top flight football from here on out. Promotion candidates West Bromwich Albion present themselves as a perfect destination for the 28-year-old.

Going into Tuesday’s game with Queens Park Rangers the Baggies are fourth in the Championship table, four points behind third place Leeds United. However, they do have a game in hand on the top two Norwich City and Sheffield United. They are very much in the thick of the promotion hunt.

So thoughts must already be going towards who the club will bring in should they return to the top flight. Central midfield is one area of need owing to the age of the players who currently operate in that position for Darren Moore’s side.

Chris Brunt, James Morrison and Gareth Barry are all deep into their thirties, while youngsters Sam Field and Rekeem Harper cannot quite be relied upon to make the step up to the Premier League seamlessly at this stage of their career.

That’s why Mooy would be such an important addition for West Brom. He has the energy, technical ability and set piece prowess to really improve this Baggies team, while having the Premier League experience and relative youth to help Moore out.

Huddersfield won’t want to give the player up, but if West Brom push hard enough then they will undoubtedly be able to recruit him should they achieve promotion.

He is a very strong Premier League player and someone who operates in an area of need for Moore’s team. It would be a huge signing if they can bring him in this summer.
