OPINION
Season ticket prices always get the fans talking, and that has been the case for many West Brom supporters, who are understandably in meltdown over the club’s early bird offer. Albion announced on their official website on Thursday that prices have been frozen for next season, but it comes with the catch that supporters must pay up before the end of April otherwise their seat will be up for general sale. While the price freeze has been welcomed, it seems as though fans are raging over the fact that if they do not pay up within the next two months, they will have to sit in a new place next season. It is very harsh and one fan has even claimed that it is “blackmail” by the club. From a business perspective you can understand it. Albion do not know what league they will be in next season and if they miss out on promotion a lot of fans will have already purchased season tickets for 2019/20. However from the fans’ point of of view, it’s not ideal. Hopefully the board will have seen the reaction to this update and extend the deadline until the end of May.

No issue with the price. However the loyalty points issue and bringing forward that deadline by so far to keep your current seat is effectively blackmailing people into renewing much earlier than they are used to.

What on earth are you playing at here? So a season ticket holder who hasn’t been to one away game this year could end up with a Derby ticket and/or a play-off away ticket. How is that fair? #wba pic.twitter.com/9eSs8WO8mz

Looks more like blackmail to me. The price freeze should be the incentive. Personally think they could have extended the deadline before releasing season current season ticket seats by a month

Early bird price freeze incentive is fine but actually releasing your season ticket for general sale if you don't renew by 30 April is just wrong. Unfair and poor PR. #wba
