23-year-old defender Kortney Hause hadn’t blown away Aston Villa fans before this game today, but supporters were hugely impressed with his 45 minutes against West Brom.

Hause arrived on loan from Wolves and played 27 minutes in the 3-0 defeat against Wigan in January and then sat on the bench for the next four games. He played 90 minutes against Brentford on Wednesday but Villa lost that game 1-0.

Many Villa fans were unhappy to see him in the starting line-up today, but they’d turned their frowns upside down after a really solid 45 minutes from the youngster.

He’ll be hoping that this signals him turning the corner after his career took an alarming dip. He hasn’t really featured for Wolves since the 16/17 season, and the former England Under-21 international desperately needs a good stint at Villa.

If he can replicate what he’s done in the first 45 minutes here he’ll have a great chance, although he did pick up a booking just before half-time.

In a bright half though, that Villa shaded, West Brom took the lead through Hal Robson-Kanu and then added a second through Jay Rodriguez just before half-time.

Villa have an uphill battle to get something out of this game now.
