Jadon Sancho has been a big hit at Borussia Dortmund since his £7million move in the summer from Man City.

However, it could have been very different for the youngster, with Tottenham very interested in his services, according to a Daily Mail journalist.

Ian Ladyman claims that Tottenham actually tried to make Sancho part of the deal that saw Tottenham centre-back Kyle Walker move to Man City the same summer for £47.4million.

He added that Tottenham were front of the queue for Sancho but that City have a policy of not selling to a rival and turned Daniel Levy down.

Ladyman made the claim on his personal Twitter page after a Liverpool journalist claimed that Jurgen Klopp wanted to sign Sancho too.

OPINION

If Spurs had managed to land Jadon Sancho for £7million, or rather, if they’d sold Kyle Walker for £40million and got Sancho in return, it would have been an absolute transfer masterstroke from Levy. Instead, he just comes out of this looking uncharacteristically weak. So Man City have a policy of not selling to their rivals but Tottenham were happy to accept that and sell them Kyle Walker anyway? Or perhaps they weren’t happy, but wanted the money. Either way it shows that the power struggle at the top of the Premier League is definitely with Man City at the moment. Sancho is worth many times more the £7million fee that Dortmund landed him for. In fact, he’s probably worth more money than Kyle Walker now after breaking through into the England senior team. In the Champions League clash against Dortmund, Sancho was the standout player in the first-half of the first leg. You can only wonder what Pochettino would have made of a player like Sancho in his side.
