17-year-old Tottenham striker Troy Parrott got the best birthday present today as he signed his first professional contract with the club. The youngster, who has been training with the Spurs first-team recently, sent a Twitter message to the fans after signing, saying it was a “proud moment for me and my family”. Parrott has been prolific for the Spurs Under-18s, with 12 goals in 11 games and has moved up to the Under-23s and taken part in first-team training. Many Spurs fans think he’s the future of the club and are desperate to see him make the step up to the first-team. That might take a while though. Kazaiah Sterling, currently on loan with Sunderland, was seemingly the closes to breaking through into Mauricio Pochettino’s side, but Parrott is possibly causing more buzz among fans. Today was the first day he could sign his professional contract and fans are delighted that he’s now officially a Spurs player. One fan said he was “gonna be a beast” while another said he was the “next Harry Kane”. With Pochettino struggling to find back-up to Kane, the mergence of Parrott and Sterling means the future is bright at Tottenham.
