John Terry has fired a shot at Tottenham over their long wait for a trophy.

The former Chelsea captain took to Instagram yesterday to take part in a Q&A session with fans during which a Spurs fan commented with the phrase “Tottenham Hotspur forever”, as reported in the Sun.

In response, Terry, who is currently assistant coach at Aston Villa posted a trophy emoji with two eyes staring at it in shock.

Spurs are yet to win a trophy under Mauricio Pochettino, and haven’t lifted any silverware since they got their hands on the League Cup in 2008.

OPINION

That poor Tottenham fan has been decimated, but they did walk into it a little bit. Spurs fans must know by now that if they are going to give it large to their nearest rivals, the first thing that will be brought up in response will be their lack of silverware. Mauricio Pochettino has done a fantastic job in north London, but until he lifts a trophy, swipes like Terry’s will remain an easy go to for supporters everywhere. Even though Spurs are arguably the biggest team in London right now they need to back that up with a title, and quickly, otherwise this uncomfortable limbo they find themselves in will just add to the pressure on their shoulders. This year would have been the ideal opportunity with the FA Cup wide open and the Carabao Cup in touching distance, but they shanked their chance, and now the wait must go on, much to Terry’s delight.
