Chris Sutton has claimed that he wants Wolves to win this year’s FA Cup.

The Midlands club booked their place in the draw for the quarter finasl with a 1-0 win over Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Sunday, and Sutton was quick to praise Nuno Espirito Santo’s side after the victory.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606, he said: “Do you know who I want to see win the cup? I want to see Wolves win the cup.

“Brilliant they’ve been this season. Great brand of football they play. They are taking the cup seriously.

“I hope Wolves’ name is on the trophy, they can beat anybody on their day.”

OPINION

What a stunning endorsement from Sutton for Wolves’ FA Cup hopes this is. Nuno’s side have been remarkable this season, and fully deserve their spot in the last eight, and they will be many people’s outside favourites to go all the way in the competition. With only Manchester City and Manchester United or Chelsea left out of the top six, the tournament is as open as it ever has been in recent years, and there’s no reason to believe that Wanderers couldn’t at least reach a Wembley semi-final. That would be a fine treat for their fans to cap off what has already been a stunning year, and it would be met with rampant celebrations for sure. Wolves have won over so many neutrals with their brand of free flowing, feel good, attacking football, and with so many of the big clubs already out, a lot of people will be hoping that their improbable and meteoric rise can go just that one step further.
