Southampton fans drool over Valery v Arsenal

Southampton wing back Yan Valery was one of the only positives for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side in what was a desperately disappointing 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday. Alex Iwobi had a good game for the hosts at Emirates Stadium and was dangerous throughout, but Valery did a decent job of keeping him in check for the most part. The 20-year-old is a pretty good prospect and he’s certainly improved in recent months. He looked a little out of his depth when he first came into the Saints team but he appears to be someone of Premier League quality now. He certainly caused the Gunners problems at times and got forward to good effect throughout this contest. Ultimately there were very few Saints players who produced anything resembling a good performance, but Valery was undoubtedly the best of a pretty bad bunch. Hopefully he can kick on from here and continue on what’s been an encouraging run of form recently.
