Aston Villa will be without six players in their clash against Brentford on Wednesday night due to multiple injury issues, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claims that  Orjan Nyland, James Chester, Axel Tuanzebe, Tom Carroll, Henri Lansbury and Jack Grealish are all ruled out of the trip to Griffin Park this week, when manager Dean Smith will face his old club for the first time since leaving them to join Villa.

Grealish’s absence will surely be felt the most as since the attacking midfielder has been sidelined, Villa have won just two of 11 matches across all competitions.

OPINION

It is no shock that Aston Villa’s form since the turn of the year has been poor. It’s not like they’re losing a lot of games, but they are drawing a lot, and that means that they are dropping a lot of points. Their form definitely seems to boil down to the fact that Grealish is sidelined after he suffered a shin injury against West Brom in December. Villa face the Baggies in a massive West Midlands derby on Saturday, and while Smith and the club’s supporters will no doubt want Grealish back for that game, it is looking unlikely. Brentford are up first anyway and a trip to Griffin Park could prove tricky for the Villans. However Smith knows the Bees like the back of his hand and that could prove to be an advantage for the West Midlands club. Even though they are missing a lot of players, it is hard to predict Brentford winning this one and maybe, just maybe, Aston Villa will return to winning ways in the capital.
