COMMENTARY
After a bore draw in the Scottish Cup against Kilmarnock last weekend, Steven Gerrard’s Rangers returned to Ibrox looking to give the home fans some more excitement. The manager had a number of decisions to make regarding who would line up, with the likes of Allan McGregor and Alfredo Morelos both out through suspension, while there were said to be fears over the likes of Jermain Defoe and Kyle Lafferty in the build up to the showdown. As revealed via the Light Blues’ official Twitter account the fans’ fears were allayed up front but it was a decision at the back which had the Ibrox faithful fuming, with Nikola Katic starting on the bench. It seems as though the supporters believe the summer signing should be in the starting XI, one urging Gerrard to swing the axe on Joe Worrall instead, and considering the Croatian’s performances compared to his English teammate’s this season it is understandable why there is so much anger from the stands via Twitter. Worrall has hardly been Mr Reliable for Rangers while Katic has barely put a foot wrong.
